A photograph of the reverse side of a silver gilt casket for a burgess ticket from Dumfries, Scotland, admitting Andrew Carnegie as burgess and freeman of the "Royal Burgh of Dumfries" in recognition of his being a "self made man," the "magnificence of his gifts," his "diffusion of light and knowledge amongst the people of Scotland and America" and "his many handsome and public libraries erected at his cost." The burgess ticket also goes on to thank him for a gift of a public library for Dumfries, Scotland and Maxwelltown, Scotland. The casket has ornamental engravings, decorations and the name Louise W. Carnegie engraved over a likeness of her, that is within a circle in the middle of the container. The likeness of Louise Carnegie has a reclining figure on each side of her. The top of the container has a silver statute of the back view of Saint Michael slaying a dragon. The right side of the container has a scene of a river and buildings engraved in it.
