The 1987 PHS Philadelphia Green exhibit “Iced Tea at Gray’s Ferry” was a playful nod to that year’s Flower Show Central Feature exhibit “Tea at Gray’s Ferry.”

The 1988 PHS Philadelphia Green exhibit at the Flower Show “Community Gardening: A Patchwork of Roots” celebrated Philadelphia’s rich cultural diversity in its hundreds of community gardens, showcasing vegetables with their roots in European, Asian, and tropical gardens.

With a backdrop of a large picture postcard, the 1993 PHS Philadelphia Green exhibit “Greetings from Philadelphia Green” invites Show visitors to see how gardeners transform trash-strewn lots and barren streets into areas filled with flowers and trees.

In a nod to the 1994 Flower Show theme “Islands in the Sun” the PHS Philadelphia Green exhibit is “Urban Islands in the Sun” where the “islands” are planted by hundreds of exuberant community gardeners who participate in PHS’s community greening and public landscape efforts across the city.

Titled “Philadelphia Green Garden Galleries” the 1995 PHS Philadelphia Green exhibit highlights the creativity of city gardeners who use sculptures, mosaics and murals to provide a focal point and to personalize urban green spaces.

The 1996 PHS Philadelphia Green exhibit is “Philadelphia Green: on the Street Where You Live.”
