About This Collection

This series contains warrants which were issued by the Comptroller General in lieu of money owed to various persons by the state. Information on each warrant includes the date of issue, the amount, the name of the person receiving the warrant, and a brief description of work performed by that person. Images are grouped chronologically by month in which warrant was issued. This collection is part of the Office of the Comptroller General which was created in 1782.
