Secretary's Accounts, 1738-1774

About This Collection

Account books, bills of debt, records of fees paid, receipts, and debit-credit lists. One of the account books was kept by Provincial Secretary Richard Peters for state provincial accounts and the other is a record of the accounts of the Lancaster County Commissioners and Tax Assessors for services rendered relating to the provincial tax for the period 1760-1770. Images are arranged chronologically by date of entry. These records were created under an early government structure of Pennsylvania.
