Ledgers A-AA (PA) 1775-1788

About This Collection

A record relating to the payment and settlement of public money, kept for the purpose of auditing, liquidating and adjusting Commonwealth accounts. Although the ledgers record transactions dating form 1775-1788, they were most likely created between 1790 and 1792 to aid in auditing. Types of accounts represented include general expenditures and revenues, taxes, fines, and transactions of county officials. Information given for each transaction includes name of account, amount paid or received, page number of the corresponding entry in RG4/26- Journals AAA, 1775-1790, also digitized, and what is probably the number of a related warrant which no longer exists. Images are grouped by year that transactions occurred. This collection is part of the Office of the Comptroller General which was created in 1782.
