About This Collection

Correspondence, petitions, reports, election returns, Governors' messages, ships' lists, appointments, warrants, passports and related records relating to the local affairs of government within the Province. Included are about twenty muster rolls and military returns relating to the French and Indian War providing such types of information as name and rank of soldier, the military unit or station to which attached and the name of the officer under whom he served. Occasionally, the soldier's date and place of enlistment, age, and brief physical description may also be found. Images are arranged chronologically by date of correspondence. These records were created under an early government structure of Pennsylvania.
