A record of examinations of candidates seeking appointments as surgeons or assistant surgeons. Information about each candidate generally includes name, postal address, county of residence, and age, the institution from which he graduated, the date he was examined, and the standard score achieved on the exam. Remarks concerning where the person was assigned or whether he resigned also regularly appear. Images are arranged alphabetically by surname of candidate. This collection is part of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs which is responsible for administering the Pennsylvania National Guard, and administers various programs of assistance to veterans.
