Transcripts of the minutes of wardens appointed for the Port of Philadelphia under "Act for Appointing Wardens for the Port of Philadelphia and for Regulating Pilots, plying in the River and Bay of Delaware, and the Price of Pilotage (sic) to and from the said Port." The wardens issued certificates to persons qualified to act as pilots on ships and vessels in the Delaware River and Bay. Information provided is date of meeting, names of those present, and a description of the business transacted. The minutes reveal information concerning obstructions in the Delaware River and Bay and daily entries illuminate routine operations of the port such as maintenance of lighthouses, collection of fees, and payment of wages.
