1985 Gale Exhibit Artist Rendering: Central feature "Our Garden Heritage" in 1985 show theme: "A Touch of Britain." This artist's rendering shows how visitors will walk through the central feature, beginning in the knot garden, made of dwarf English boxwood, pink and white begonias and blue ageratum. It is surrounded by stone balustrades and features four sculptures representing the four seasons. The visitor then walks under arches to explore the perennial border made of 61 varieties of perennials, biennials and annuals, including pink, blue and white delphiniums, snapdragons and foxglove. Pillars of Rhonda and Golden Shower roses rise above a crop of peachy-pink Sonia roses inside a border of Callery pear trees. Rendering by Doug Julian.

The 1987 Central Feature "Tea at Grays Ferry" commemorates an historic day, Thursday, July 17, 1787 in the garden of Gray's Ferry Tavern on the banks of the Schuylkill River, where George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton took tea. In Philadelphia to construct the country's constitution. This exhibit recreates this 200-year old garden. Rendering by Doug Julian.

Artist Doug Julian executed this rendering of the 1994 show, "Islands in the Sun." Puerto Rico's Marin Alto Tropicals was asked to create a rainforest entrance arch, depicted along the top of the rendering. On the left was the Garden Club of Bermuda's house with a cottage garden; on the right, the Barbados Horticultural Society's Victorian island bathhouse. Waldor Orchids' orchid-filled haunted shipwreck is in the lagoon. [ARC2010.07Box61A]
