An early description of the ornamentation of the state capitol building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Intended as a visitors' guide, it presents a prose description of George Grey Barnard's two massive sculptures on either side of the entrance, and identifies the images and symbolism in Edwin Austin Abbey's paintings, Violet Oakley's murals, and W. B. Van Ingen's stained glass. This 21 page booklet was completed after 1911 (it refers to Abbey's death, which came in that year) and before 1920 (when Oakley finished painting her murals for the senate chamber).

Former Republican governor Samuel W. Pennypacker makes a spirited defense of his administration's oversight of the construction of the state capitol building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This volume gives a detailed description of the construction of the capitol, focusing on the business side of things, and defending those involved against the charges of conspiracy to defraud that had been lodged by newly-elected Democratic state treasurer William H. Berry. The point of the title is that Pennypacker believed the charges were trumped up and that they both profaned and desecrated the whole - otherwise exemplary -- building project. Published by William J. Campbell of Philadelphia after the trials were concluded, the book is written in the form of a letter "To the People of Pennsylvania" dated 4 October 1911 at Pennypacker's Mills. It contains a few plates and facsimiles.

A detailed description of the architecture and ornamentation of the Forum building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. At first home to the Commonwealth's Department of Public Instruction, the building continues to house the State Library of Pennsylvania and various other state offices. Opened in 1931, the neo-classical style building's decoration is a rich art deco celebration of humanity's intellectual and cultural achievements. This pamphlet explains the symbolism and identifies the inscriptions found both within and without the structure. Includes many illustrations.
