Central and Union schools, northeast corner of Third Avenue and Hickory Street, circa 1890. Central, at left, was added in 1871 to the older Union building, built in 1854 and razed in 1900. Central was home to high school students until construction of Warren High School in 1897 but continued in use as an elementary school until razed in 1936 to make way for a new municipal building.

Ludlow House hotel, southeast corner of Market Street and Second Avenue, in the 1890s. The former Warren High School was built here in 1897 and removed in 1960 for construction of Market Street School.

The Ludlow House hotel, circa 1865, at the southeast corner of Second Avenue and Market Street. The Warren High School was built on this corner in 1896 and replaced in 1961 with the Market Street Elementary School. The horse-drawn vehicle at left was the 'Hotel and Depot bus'.

North side of Second Avenue just west of Liberty Street in 1869, after several frame buildings had been razed prior to construction of a row of brick business blocks. The spire tops the First Baptist Church on Liberty Street just north of Third Avenue. To its right is the dome of the Union School building on Third Avenue east of Hickory Street.

View north from above the south side in 1916 or 1917. Prominent large buildings are left, the First Methodist Church (site of city fire station), the Struthers Library Building, and right, the Warren Bank and Trust (now, 2004, National City Bank). Note the two large gravel pits at center, now obscured below the 1961 Warren High School on Fifth Avenue East.

The swinging footbridge at Third Avenue about 1900. It was replaced in 1904 with an iron auto bridge. At left rear is the original (1877) Jefferson Street School.

Looking east in 1904 from Water Street across the Third Avenue swinging footbridge. Piers are under construction for the new steel auto bridge. The large brick building right of the bridge, on Conewango Avenue, is the Jefferson Street School.

The West End School, north side of Pennsylvania Avenue West, between Public Way and Morrison Street, ca 1900. Replaced by McClintock School, now the site of Warren County's Economic Opportunity Council program, across the avenue and farther west.
