Steamer 'Rufus P. King' acquired by the borough of Warren in 1873 or 1874, and given to the scrap drive in WWII, shown in operation on the Liberty Street bridge during the Warren Savings Bank / Watson-Davis block fire of February 1889. View to the north to Warren (later New Struthers) Hotel, built by Thomas Struthers, 1880.

A view west on Pennsylvania Avenue (then Water Street) in 1873 just east of Hickory Street. A horse-drawn streetcar turns east into Second Avenue, heading for the terminus at Second Avenue and East Street. Note the unpaved streets with wooden plank crosswalks.

Liberty Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues in 1873. At left center are the county office building and the 1825 Warren County Courthouse. Just right of center is the Mansion House and behind it the First Presbyterian Church (the second building). The Lutheran Church is at left.

At The Point in 1873. The Scott House hotel, in the Watson-Davis block at right, lasted only a few years. The brick building farthest right on Second Avenue was the new (1871) First National Bank. Right of center is the spire of the First Presbyterian Church on Market Street.

North Side of Second Avenue just west of Liberty Street. Verback's block (later Printz Co., Carnahan's). The second floor was the site of the first library as well as the office of Dr. William V. Hazeltine who served as the first official librarian. To the right of Verback's are the Eddy Block and the first National Bank. 1873

North side of Second Avenue, west of Liberty, in 1873. The horse car track on Second ran to East Street at Water (now Pennsylvania Avenue). Buildings and businesses left to right, include Verback's block (the second floor housed the public library and the office of Dr. William V. Hazeltine), Seneca Burgess's grocery, First National Bank, A.A. Davis and Co. (books, stationery, etc.) and Henry's Billiard Parlor.

The William D. Brown house at the southeast corner of Fourth Avenue and Liberty Street was built in 1867. It is shown here in 1873, in a view across the tracks of the Dunkirk, Allegheny Valley & Pittsburgh Railroad. Today (2004) the home is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Citro.
