Street railroads, Horse railroads
A view west on Pennsylvania Avenue (then Water Street) in 1873 just east of Hickory Street. A horse-drawn streetcar turns east into Second Avenue, heading for the terminus at Second Avenue and East Street. Note the unpaved streets with wooden plank crosswalks.

Liberty Street at Water Street (now Pennsylvania Avenue West) looking north about 1908. The New Struthers Hotel, built in 1880 and first known as the Warren Hotel, is now occupied by a Northwest Savings Bank office building constructed in 2004. Note the open Warren Street Railway car and the Warren-Jamestown car, on Liberty Street.

The New Struthers Hotel (ex-Warren Hotel) at the northeast corner of Liberty Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Built in 1880, this structure was razed in 2003 to make way for a new Northwest Savings Bank building. Picture circa 1910.

Warren and Jamestown Street Railway baggage car #50 on Main Street in Russell, 1906. Joe Chase is walking east across the street and beyond him are both a wagon team and an early highwheeled auto.

Smith's department store, later Levinson department store and then Janick's department store, now part of Northwest Savings Bank office complex. Warren-Jamestown Street Railway passenger car--trolley--and baggage car at the terminal, foot of Liberty Street, about 1906. Dunham's Pharmacy was in the Allen Block, now (2006) the site of headquarters of Northwest Savings Bank. This is the intersection of Liberty Street and Second Avenue.

Warren-Jamestown streetcar #51 heading north at the north Warren station ca 1905. Dunkirk, Allegheny Valley & Pittsburgh Railroad tracks are at left. The streetcar right-of-way is now (2004) occupied by highway 62.
