Street railroads, People, Automobiles, Carts and wagons
Warren and Jamestown Street Railway baggage car #50 on Main Street in Russell, 1906. Joe Chase is walking east across the street and beyond him are both a wagon team and an early highwheeled auto.
Armories, Buildings
Warren Armory, 330 Hickory Street, about 1925. First used in 1910, it was for many years the home of Company I, 16th Regiment, NGP. In 2004 it is in active use as the Warren Area Student Union. The church at right, facing Liberty Street, behind the Struthers building, was the First Evangelical, soon (at this time) to be replaced by a building for the Parvin Motorcar Company.

Warren County courthouse, jail, and Sheriff's residence, Market Street and Fourth Avenue, soon after construction. Photo taken in 1877 or slightly later.
People, Hospitals
Original main building of the Warren Emergency Hospital on the south side ca 1905.

Warren High School, southeast corner of Market Street and Second Avenue, ca 1950. Warren High School was built in 1896-1897 and razed in 1961.
Department stores, Street railroads, People
Smith's department store, later Levinson department store and then Janick's department store, now part of Northwest Savings Bank office complex. Warren-Jamestown Street Railway passenger car--trolley--and baggage car at the terminal, foot of Liberty Street, about 1906. Dunham's Pharmacy was in the Allen Block, now (2006) the site of headquarters of Northwest Savings Bank. This is the intersection of Liberty Street and Second Avenue.

Warren-Jamestown streetcar #51 heading north at the north Warren station ca 1905. Dunkirk, Allegheny Valley & Pittsburgh Railroad tracks are at left. The streetcar right-of-way is now (2004) occupied by highway 62.

Warren Savings Bank at The Point, Second and Pennsylvania Avenue, about 1875. This building was constructed in front of the Watson-Davis block, the 3-story building directly behind it.
Banks, Buildings, Fires
The Warren Savings Bank and the three-story Watson-Davis block immediately behind about 1890. These buildings and two others attached to the east were destroyed in a February 1889 fire. They were replaced in 1891 by the new Warren Savings Bank building, now (2004) National City Bank. On either side of the triangular block, across Liberty Street, are left, Johnson's Exchange, and right, the Struthers Hotel. The latter building was razed in 2003 to be replaced in 2004 by a new headquarters building for Northwest Savings Bank.

Fire

A February 1889 fire destroyed the Warren Savings Bank at The Point, and behind it the old Watson-Davis brick block. In 1891 the new bank (now, 2004, National City Bank) was constructed on the site of both buildings.

The Warren-Sheffield streetcar overhead is the centerpiece in this ca 1908 view north across the Allegheny River. Framing the bridge are the Warren tannery, left, and the Allegheny Hotel. Necolai K. Wendelboe Sr. stands on the tracks.
