Notebook containing personal information supplied by Peters Township High School pupils to Elizabeth Douglass, a fellow student. Each pupil’s entry occupies one page and includes responses to a standard set of questions, such as name, favorite book, most cherished possession, greatest fear and highest ambition. Entries began in 1921; more entries were added in 1923 and 1924.

Journals, Peters (Washington County, Pa. : Township), Matthews, Chatham, 1857-1940
Journal of Chatham Glenn Matthews, who was born on May 22, 1857, and died on February 4, 1940. A lifelong resident of Peters Township, Matthews was a farmer and owned a grocery store. Journal entries consist of brief descriptions of each day’s activities. Farm life figures most prominently, with .references to livestock, crops and related activity. Religion figures prominently as well, with Matthews mentioning prayer meetings, singing, preaching and temperance. In naming days of the week, he uses Sab (for Sabbath) instead of Sunday.
