About This Collection

This collection includes photographs and letters left by the Benjamin estate, primarily from the early 1900s. Mr. Benjamin grew up in northern Pennsylvania and moved to the Harrisburg area in the 1930s to head the PA Farm Bureau. He and his wife Muriel left their home to the borough of New Cumberland to be used as the town's library. The materials provided here provide a snapshot of rural American life in the early 20th century.
