In 1857 Lucretia Mott with her husband James and their family moved from the "congested and busy city of Philadelphia" to a little farm called Roadside" located on Old York Road just eight miles out of town. Earlier Lucretia's daughter and family the Davises, had moved into the country where they purchased with Thomas Mott and estate called Oak Farm".
