'Torn Confederate money' picked up in a field approximately two miles east of Gettysburg on July 7, 1863 as documented by John Blair Linn. Actually these two pieces are the leftmost side of $1 bank notes issued by the Bank of Battle Creek, Michigan, a Union state. In both pieces a circular vignette of Mercury and Moneta is shown on the front with a blank back. One piece has a partially printed ‘Michi’ at the top.

Hays made the grand charge on the batterys on the Cemetery hill July 3, 1863 J. B. Linn July 8, 63’. Pocket bible contains the Old Testament book of Micah Chapter 7, Verses 7 – 20, the complete books of Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, and Haggai, and the book of Zechariah Chapters I – XIV Verses 1 and 2; pages 833 – 848.
