College administrators, Cornerstone laying, Libraries, John W. Long Library (1951-1968, Long Administration Building 1968)

Long, president of Williamsport Dickinson Seminary, which later became Lycoming College, from 1921-1955. According to an article in the November 9, 1950 Lycoming Courier, Congressman Robert F. Rich laid the cornerstone, and the following items were placed in the cornerstone: 'A list of the Library Building Committee the contractor, and the Architect; a copy of the 1950 football schedule; two copies of the October 27 issue of the Lycoming Courier; the Treasurer's Report for the ficscal year ending May 31, 1950; a list of the members of the International Relations Club; a list of the members of the Johnb Wesley Club; four copies of the program of the Dedication and Ground-breaking ceremonies for the new library; an accessions list of the library going from May 15 through October 1; the 1950 Orientation Week program; a list of the periodicals in the college library; a list of the students of Lycoming College as of October 5, 1950; a copy of the college catalogue for 1949-1950 which contains announcements for the 1950-1951 term; copies of the Lycoming Courier of October 13, May 17, and April 19; an invitation for the Annual Fall Reception; a copy of the Williamsport Sun dated October 18, 1950; a copy of the October 22, 1950 Grit; and a copy of the 1950 Arrow.'
