In the first chapter of this booklet we have tried to disclose the scriptural basis of the Female Diaconate. In the second chapter we give a comprehensive view of the Deaconess Motherhouse, as it has developed in the course of seven decades, especially in Germany. In the third chapter we want to introduce our friendly readers to the sisterhood. In the last chapter we give a short, general representation of the development and history of the deaconess work in the United States.
