Calvin Trillin, an author best known for his humorous writings, gave the University's 141st commencement address to 1999's 381 graduating seniors. Trillin was honored with the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters during the ceremony.
Office of Multicultural Affairs, Black history month, Speakers, Farmer, James, Susquehanna University
In celebration of Black History Month, the Office of Multicultural Affairs sponsored Civil Rights speaker Dr. James Farmer. An audience of 200 listened to Dr. Farmer's speech on " A Living History of the Civil Rights Movement" in February 1990.
Harris, LaDonna, Speakers, Susquehanna University
Sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson program, lecturer LaDonna Harris, a Native American, visited the Susquehanna University campus for two days in March 1993. During her visit she presented a lecture in the Ben Apple Lecture Hall on "Women and Family in Comanche Society." She visited several classes and discussed ethnic, environmental and women's issues.
