On January 22, 1990, the Jane Conrad Apple Rare Books Room located on the second floor of the Blough-Weis Library was dedicated in honor of Jane Conrad Apple, a distinguished member of the Susquehanna University community. The room reflects Apple's fondness for the Elizabethan period and also holds first and limited editions of the works of William Shakespeare.

In recognition of the scholarly achievements of Russell W.Gilbert, a Susquehanna University Professor of German from 1930 to 1970, the Blough-Weis Library dedicated the Russell W. Gilbert Collection on September 27, 1990. This special library collection contains resources on the Pennsylvania German language, literature, history, and folklore and is housed in the Library's Pennsylvania Room. Many of the holdings were donated by Dr. Gilbert and his wife, Viola. The window shown in the background had once been part of the main entrance to the library.
