School of Natural and Social Sciences, Susquehanna University, School of the Arts
In the summer of 1999, two new schools debuted at Susquehanna University, The School of Arts, Humanities and Communications and The School of Natural and Social Sciences. The School of Arts, Humanities and Communications encompassed the departments of art, communications and theatre arts, education, English, history, modern languages, music, philosophy, religion, and classical studies. The School of Natural and Social Science served the departments of biology, chemistry, geological and environmental sciences, mathematical sciences, physics, political science, psychology, sociology and anthropology. Prior to 1999, the academic structure was last reorganized in 1983.
Speakers, Trillin, Calvin, Susquehanna University, Graduation ceremonies
Calvin Trillin, an author best known for his humorous writings, gave the University's 141st commencement address to 1999's 381 graduating seniors. Trillin was honored with the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters during the ceremony.
