The social sorority Alpha Xi Delta joined the University in 1957 when students complained of too few sororities on campus. This photo shows members of Alpha Xi Delta clowning around for the camera in 1982.

The University's bookstore provided students living on campus with quite a lot of what they might need. Not only did the bookstore sell books but also SU clothing and greeting cards a student could use to keep in touch with friends and family.

The Frisbee Club was formed at Susquehanna University as an alternative to traditional sports in 1981. The club would meet with other universities in the area to play ultimate frisbee.

Anyone interested in investing was encouraged to join the Investments Club. Professors were also permitted to participate. Workshops, discussions, and lectures helped the club make a real investment through E.F. Hutton. Club dues were used in investments.

Anchors away! This 1982 photograph shows the members of the Kappa Delta sorority. The group's motto of "So many sisters to call your own" is well represented in this image. Among the sisters' contributions to the University were faculty cocktail parties and the Founders' Day faculty reception.

A program detailing all of the events of Orientation Week is given to incoming freshmen and transfer students. The cover of the 1981 orientation program, celebrating Susquehanna University's 125th year, was designed by Bill Weiser, class of 1982. The cartoon figure was also used on t-shirts, the Freshmen Shield, and the Parent Handbook.

Oktoberfest, Yuengling Bound and Pony Party were among the themes of the parties hosted by the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. One such party is shown in this 1982 image. The chickens are a nice touch, don't you think?

The Racquetball Club was established in 1982. Games were played on regulation size courts, and clinics and tournaments were held to help students hone their skills. The club gave students an opportunity to participate in a sport that might otherwise be out of their reach financially.

Charles B. Degenstein's generous gift to the University established the Sigmund Weis School of Business, in honor of his father-in-law, Mr. Weis, class of 1903. Mr. Degenstein poses with University President Jonathan Messerli in this 1982 photo.

The first computer at Susquehanna was rented by the University in 1973 and was used to gather statistical information. Computers came into everyday use in the 1980s. The University received two large grants used to fund three microcomputer labs on campus. These labs were used to enhance the growing instruction in computer technology.
