The Black Student Union, seen in this yearbook photo, was founded by students in 1972. The students sponsored a Black Student Weekend showing films and hosting speakers and music groups to celebrate the African American heritage and create projects meant to help African Americans in the region.

Fiddler on the Roof was presented by the Theatre/Music Department in 1973. The yearbook included pictures taken of the production.
Lambda Chi Alpha, Bond and Key, Fraternities & sororities, Susquehanna University
Lambda Chi Alpha brothers make a statement with their “change” of image. The oldest fraternity on campus began as the Bond and Key. Long gone seemed to be the quiet gentlemen in jackets and ties as motorcycles and kegs are the props used in this photo.
Orientation Planning Committee, Students, Susquehanna University
Members of the student-run Orientation Planning Committee were always willing to help make life a little easier for incoming freshman. The committee didn’t stop at sponsoring dances and lectures; they also helped the freshmen move in to the dorms.

Rugby came to Susquehanna University in 1971. It was started by James Handlan of the Math Department. Handlan also helped start the ice hockey team in 1975.
