Susquehanna University - 1970 to 1979

The Housing and Boarding section of the 1970 Susquehanna University Bulletin reminds students of requirements for living on campus. It clearly states that there is no campus housing for married students. If a student marries during the academic year, he or she is required to notify the Personnel Deans and leave University housing.

Members of the student-run Orientation Planning Committee were always willing to help make life a little easier for incoming freshman. The committee didn’t stop at sponsoring dances and lectures; they also helped the freshmen move in to the dorms.

Narrator Lorne Greene, best known for his role on the TV show “Bonanza,” is seen working with the writer of “The Colonial Keystone: Pennsylvania.” The historical documentary was recorded in a studio in Northumberland. SU students, faculty and alumni were part of the project.

The 1970s became a period of change for Susquehanna. Academic programs were revised and allowed students to focus more on their individual interests. Campus life became less structured and more spontaneous and flexible.

Times may change, but some things stay the same. Comfort can always be found with a stuffed friend from home.
