Cross country track began at Susquehanna University in 1961 under the direction of coach David Hindman. The cross country tradition continues today as the University supports both a men's and women's team. This image shows the 1962 cross country team.

The Dames Club was an organization created by Susquehanna University wives. The club held monthly meetings under the direction of Mrs. Jean Grosse. The club's membership is seen in this 1962 photo.

Greek life was very active at Susquehanna during the 1960s. Fraternities and sororities helped students form close friendships while maintaining their group's long standing traditions. Initially founded as social organizations, fraternities and sororities developed service programs in order to give back to the community.

The Panhellenic Council consisted of three delegates from each of the three National Panhellenic Sororities operating on campus. The goals of the Council were to promote "high social standards and sound scholarship." The Council held a pledge dance each year to welcome pledges into its membership. The Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, previously kown as Phi Epsilon, was the fourth fraternity established at Susquehanna University and found its home at the former Charles Aikens residence on University Avenue.

Phi Epsilon was the fourth fraternity organized at Susquehanna University. It joined the University in February of 1961 and one year later merged with the Tau Kappa Epsilon national fraternity. Shown are the members in 1962.

The Radio Club was formed in 1961 and operated through the Military Affiliated Radio Service. With the help of a 500 watt transmitter, the club could transmit signals around the world from its location at 580 University Avenue.
Dormitories, Buildings, Susquehanna University, Smith Hall.
As Susquehanna continued its growth, student housing became a priority. Smith Hall, a new dormitory, was dedicated in 1961. Shown in this image is one of the new dorm rooms. Bogar Hall can be seen in the background.
