The groundbreaking for Smith Hall took place in 1959. The building was completed at a cost of $625,000 and dedicated in 1961. These images proudly display the modern building's many perks, including a spacious lounge for gatherings as well as large bedrooms with sweeping views of campus.
Chapels, Susquehanna University, Weber Chapel, Buildings
Ground was broken for Weber Chapel in 1965. In the spring of 1966, in a spectacular display, a helicopter dropped the building's spire into place. The event provided students with a welcome break from final exam preparations.
West Hall, Susquehanna University, Dormitories, Buildings
Groundbreaking for New Men's Hall, later renamed West Hall, took place in 1963. This building was meant to replace the student housing in Gustavus Adolphus Hall, which ironically burned down in 1964, its last year of use as a dormitory. This 1965 image shows the interior and exterior of the new West Hall.
