Let your conscience be your guide. By 1968, chapel attendence was no longer mandatory, however, the University's Student Christian Association offered interested students a venue in which to explore and express their faith.

Formed under the leadership of Chaplain Flotten, the Chapel Council assisted in all campus worship services and occasionally planned special services. The group was comprised of students representing several different denominations. The Council's 1967 members are shown in this photograph.

The Debate Club was formed in 1964 and would meet weekly to train and hone debates. The group participted in several competitions throughout the year with other universities and in 1966 participated in a debate held at Cambridge University. This image shows the Debate Club's 1964 membership.

Organized in 1964, the Forensic Society inspired great debate. The group participated in debates in six states, winning the sweepstakes trophy at Elizabethtown College in 1965 and 1966 and appearing in a televised debate with Cornell University. Shown in these images are the Society's 1967 officers and membership.

In 1960, John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon were locked in a race for the presidency. September of that year saw the creation of the Kennedy Club on campus. The club's purpose was to spark political interest in those students eligible to vote in the November election.

The Society of Fine Arts was established to promote a greater appreciation of the arts. The group sponsored trips to museums and dramatic productions as well as arts festivals. These images show the Society's 1967 officers and membership.

In the spring of 1968, the Student Christian Association Leadership Agency organized an informal student meeting on the campus hockey field. David Hesel, an economics major and member of the class of 1969, led the meeting. Nearly 100 students attended and listened to speakers advocate a "more action-less talk" philosophy.
