Founded in 1953 by Dr. Al Zimmer, participation in Future Teachers of America was just one of the extra-curricular activities available to students. The organization allowed future educators to share their common interest. Shown here are its members in 1955.
Maypoles, May Day, May queens
This image shows 1955 May Queen Carlene Lamade and her court. Lamade was also Homecoming Queen that same year. May Day celebrations included a dance and a pageant. The festivities concluded with a dance around the May Pole in honor of the Queen.
