The war-time restrictions on campus activities had caused the University footbll team to be put on hold. Susquehanna University did not field a football team from 1943 through 1945. This image from the 1948 Lanthorn shows the first football team to play for the University since 1943.

Hockey Play Day

"Play Day" was started in 1930 by the Women's Athletic Association. One day out of the year a competition between schools was held among its women's students in intercollegiate athletics. Afterwards tea, dinner and athletic discussions were held.

Men's Basketball

During the war, the men's basketball team operated with limited material and limited practice time. High hopes for a return to glory returned with the veterans.

Women's Sports

With the help of the Women's Athletic Association, women's athletic programs at Susquehanna University progressed. Although field hockey was the most common sport, basketball, softball and archery were also played.

Women's Sports

The Women's Athletic Association sponsored women's intercollegiate athletic competitions. Intramural teams were formed and competed against other colleges. While field hockey was the first varsity team formed and the most heavily played sport, games of basketball, softball and golf were also scheduled.
