In the fall of 2005, students from visiting assistant professor John Bodinger's Thought and Social Science class placed 1,994 flags in the lawn in front of the Degenstein Campus Center. The flags represented the number of American soldiers that had died in Iraq since the war began in March of 2003. The purpose of the display was to make the Susquehanna community more aware of the war in Iraq and the death toll that was its result.

A set of Christmas lights was the culprit in a small fire in an Aikens hall dorm room on February 16, 2001. A student, who also served as a volunteer fireman, used a hallway extinguisher to put out the fire.

On November 6, 2000, sixty members of Susquehanna 's Top 100 Players of 100 Seasons Football Team returned to campus for a reunion during the last game played on the original Amos Alonzo Stagg Field. A ground breaking ceremony was also held for the new Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium, on which construction would begin later in the year.

After undergoing renovations, the Encore Café was renamed Benny's Bistro in 2006. The restaurant was named in honor of Benjamin Kurtz who was the founding president of the Missionary Institute.

In an effort to conserve space, the Blough-Weis Library installed electronic compact shelving on the ground floor in 2002. The new shelving held history books and books from the bibliography and index sections. The compact shelving enabled an additional five to seven years of growth.

In 2002, Susquehanna University was named one of the most beautiful colleges in the nation. It also placed 18th out of 20 among colleges in the administration category of "students who were happy with financial aid" as well as 10th in the social life category of "more to do on campus."

Mascots, Caped Crusader, Susquehanna University
On October 7, 2000, Susquehanna University introduced its new mascot, The Caped Crusader. The mask and cape- wearing tiger made its debut before the University's Homecoming crowd.

To celebrate Susquehanna University's 150th year a 300-pound cake, measuring four feet wide and seven feet long and ample enough to feed 1,500 people, was served at the Market Street Festival in downtown Selinsgrove. The cake was made with 6,000 eggs, 300 pounds of flour, 200 pounds of sugar, 100 pounds of butter, 80 gallons of milk and 32.5 cups of vanilla. The cake was created by ARAMARK, the University's food service provider. In this photo, we see University president, Jay Lemons, with ARAMARK staff members who made the cake.

Clyde's Place, Restaurants, Susquehanna University
In January 2001, Clyde's Place opened in the University's newly renovated fitness center. Fresh fruit, soups, salads and bakery items were some of the foods offered. The café was named for Clyde H. Jacobs, who along with his wife, donated one million dollars to the campaign to renovate the athletic facility.
