Christy Mathewson, World War I
Christy Mathewson's personal military footlocker from his service during World War I. Painted on the top of each side of the trunk in dark lettering it reads: "Capt. C. Mathewson, C.W.S., U.S. Army" (top) and "Capt. C. Mathewson, USA" (sides). Included on one side of the trunk is also a sticker which reads "American Express Company, Foreign Department and a second label stamped "56". The label includes Mathewson's name and identification, likely written in his own hand.
