A typescript letter from W.N. Frew to Andrew Carnegie regarding a letter to the editor that Mary Copley Thaw sent to Albert James Barr, editor of the Pittsburgh Post. In the letter Mrs. Thaw believes that communities that accept the gift of libraries from Andrew Carnegie end up paying ""many times the value of the original gift"". She goes on to state that there is ""waste"" in management of the Carnegie Institute and Library. Mr. Frew tells Mr. Carnegie that Mr. Barr declined to publish Mrs. Thaw's letter to the editor because it ""showed all through lack of knowledge, charges having no foundation"". Mr. Frew continues to explain how there is no waste in management at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. On Board of Trustees, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh letterhead.
