A photograph of a handwritten Dutch language certificate from the General Holland Society appointing Andrew Carnegie as an honorary member of the Society for his promotion of peace and his "donation for the erection of the peace palace and library in behalf of the International Court of Arbitration of The Hague." The certificate includes vignettes on the left side and top of the document. There is a decorative border and it is signed by the president and secretary.
