In response to Poynton's letter of the 27th, in which it is suggested that the Churches visit the Carnegies at Lenox, Church states that during his recent stay in New York he had been dissuaded from paying the couple a visit by Robert Franks due to the condition of Andrew Carnegie's health, but would most likely visit them at Lenox in August. A typescript letter (unsigned) from John A. Poynton to Arthur von Weinberg. Poynton states that Andrew Carnegie has refused Weinberg's request for funds, expressed in his letter of March 21st, for the Senckenbergische Naturforschende Gesellschaft; he also indicates the inclusion (not included) of a copy of a letter by the director of the Carnegie Museum at Pittsburgh containing a list of the recipients of Diplodocus replicas, among which is the Royal Natural History Museum in Berlin.

Typescript letter (signed). William Jacob Holland acknowledges John A. Poynton's letter and its enclosure from Arthur von Weinberg in Frankfurt. He relates the story of the Diplodocus model in Frankfurt, which was based on fragments of Diplodicus longus, given to the Senckenbergische Naturforschende Gesellschaft under the auspices of Henry F. Osborn and Morris K. Jesup of the American Museum of Natural History in New York. That model is distinctly inferior to those of Diplodicus carnegii given by Andrew Carnegie to eight museums between 1905 and 1913, these having become very popular with visitors.
