One of the articles is found in the Pittsburgh newspaper, The Dispatch. According to Mr. Patterson the article was written by James F. Hudson.

The organ recitals and care of the institute building are mentioned briefly, and gratitude is expressed for coverage of the Institute by local newspapers. William Nimick Frew's service is acknowledged, as well as the work of the Board of Trustees.

E.H. Anderson, Librarian at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh writes to Andrew Carnegie and addresses Carnegies stated desire to make a contribution to the Library. Anderson says that he had communicated with Macbeth, Chairman of the Library Committee about what the Library needed most, and it was agreed that a reference collection of books on the technical arts and sciences would be the wisest gift.
