A letter from Andrew Carnegie to William Nimick Frew, President of the Board of Trustees, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, in reference to a letter from Mr. Frew dated December 13, 1906, states that he would like to ""take care of everything but the Library proper"". Mr. Carnegie wants to have his ""fund"" used ""to pay for the ""portion of the Building the Carnegie Institute occupies"". Mr. Carnegie goes on to give his opinion that the City of Pittsburghs annual payment of $200,000 for its ""Libraries"" for the current population is ""doing very well indeed, judging by what I see other cities do"". Carnegie then states that the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is near the front of public library facilities and that ""she gets the full worth of her money and even more"".

Rudy thanks Andrew Carnegie for the donation of the East End (East Liberty) Branch of Carnegie Library and the East Liberty Carnegie Hall, the latter for the purpose of presenting a series of ""peoples' concerts"" presented by members of the Pittsburgh Orchestra and the Mendelssohn Trio. He writes that the Trio would like to give Carnegie a complimentary concert in his new home.

A typescript letter to Andrew Carnegie from the Library Committee of the Homewood Board of Trade, dated March 9, 1904. The letter expresses their appreciation of the generous gift of a branch library that will be built in Homewood (Pittsburgh, Pa.). Included in the letter is a request that the building be large enough to accommodate at least 6 to 8,000 volumes and that a gymnasium and assembly hall be included. Reference is made to an accompanying petition of boys and young men of Homewood (Pittsburgh, Pa.) to the Library Committee of the Homewood Board of Trade requesting the inclusion of an auditorium and gymnasium in the Homewood Public Library. Members of the committee are listed at the end of the letter. Signed by the secretary of the committee, C.H. Garwood.

A letter to Mr. Dilworth written on both the recto and verso of the page regarding the hiring of a librarian. The letter is written on a form with the heading ""An Ordinance,"" relating to the care and custody of the Carnegie Library building and library itself. Both the ordinance form and letter are undated, but are likely from the 1890s (""189-"" appears as part of the form.)
