An unsigned typescript letter presumably from Andrew Carnegie to Samuel Church written in response to Church's March 18th letter to Louise Carnegie. Carnegie notes that, due to plans to attend the annual meeting of the Oratorio Society in St. Louis, he and his wife will be unable to attend the upcoming Founder's Day celebration in Pittsburgh.

A typescript letter from James Bonar, president, Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, to Andrew Carnegie referring to correspondence written between them April 13-14, 1911. In the letter dated April 13, 1911, Bonar asks Carnegie to help out financially with the establishment of a permanent exhibit of works by local artists. Per Carnegie's request in his letter dated April 14, 1911 he stated that he was unable to look at this matter and asked Bonar to approach him at Founder's Day. Bonar writes that he does not want Carnegie to ""hasten"" his consideration of the matter. Instead, this letter is written about the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh's exhibition at the Carnegie Institute beginning November 1, 1911. The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh would like to have an annual prize that would be a medal. Bonar writes that ""nothing would give more impetus to Pittsburgh Art than the fact of competing for a Carnegie Medal, no matter what it cost"". He then writes that the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh have all but one or two individual Pittsburgh artists as members. During the November exhibition the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh will have a memorial displaying the paintings of the late Joseph R. Woodwell. Woodwell, whom Carnegie knew, was a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Bonar then asks Carnegie for an early reply to this letter. At the bottom of the letter is a handwritten penciled notation from Andrew Carnegie to John Beatty asking him what he and others think of ""this medal idea"".
