The article is pasted on a sheet of paper and is in four separate pieces.

A newspaper article from the Gazette times (Pittsburgh, Pa.) dated October 9, 1911, concerning the ""great organ"" located in the music hall at the Carnegie Institute and the recitals by Charles Heinroth, organist and director of music at the Carnegie Institute. The beginning of the article includes the following line about the ""great organ"": ""Doubted if there is a better in the world than that of Carnegie Institute"". The article also discusses the recitals of Caspar P. Koch, organist at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Allegheny Regional Branch, Music Hall and the organ located there. The ""great organ"" at the Carnegie Institute was designed by Frederick Archer, the first organist there and later remolded by Edwin Lemare, the second organist there. Charles Heinroth followed Lemare as the organist at the Carnegie Institute and had the organ rebuilt after securing Andrew Carnegie's consent.

An article from the Pittsburgh dispatch reporting the donation of two paintings to the Carnegie Institute's Department of Fine Arts by Pittsburgh native Lawrence C. Phipps: Lawrence Grovenor's The mill and Bartolomeo Bezzi's Venetian Canal. Both paintings were placed in the Institute's permanent collection.

A newspaper article from The Pittsburgh post, dated Wednesday morning, June 28, 1911, concerning the resignation of Frances Jenkins Olcott, Head of the Children's Department of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and Director of the Training School for Children's Librarians. Part of the article is missing at the end.

A newspaper clipping from the Pittsburg dispatch concerning the sudden death of George H. Wilson. Wilson was manager of the Art Society of Pittsburgh, manager of Carnegie Music Hall and former manager of the Pittsburgh Orchestra. Wilson died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Lee in the East End of Pittsburgh, Pa. having been ill for just four days of blood poisoning. He had retired from being manager of the Pittsburgh Orchestra the year before and was devoting a lot of his time to the Art Society of Pittsburgh. His earlier life was spent in Lawrence, Mass. where he was born. He had been music critic on the Boston traveler and editor of the Musical year book published in Boston. In 1891 he went to the World's Fair at Chicago ""to take charge of the music there"". After that he accepted the position to manage the Pittsburgh Orchestra. He married Kate DeNormandie and was survived by daughters: Katherine de Normandie Schauffler, Mrs. Edward Lee, Amy M. Wilson, son Robert Wilson and other relatives.

The article hints that there is some understanding between Andrew Carnegie and Mayor Guthrie regarding Carnegie Institute. Mayor Guthrie does not indicate what that understanding is. Mr. Guthrie does go on to state that Mr. Carnegie would not endow the library. Because the building size of the Carnegie Institute has increased, the newspaper article speculates that Mr. Carnegie may help out with the increased expenses that the larger building may incur.
