A photograph of a Holland Red Cross medal, presented to Mrs. Carnegie at Shadowbrook, the Carnegie's summer retreat located in Lenox, Massachusetts. Louise Carnegie was given this medal for her donation for the Red Cross Hospital. The medal features a metallic Greek cross with a smaller Greek cross in the middle of the larger cross. A circle surrounds the smaller cross and is inscribed with what looks like: "PRO MERITO". There are four lions with crowns in between each arm of the main cross. Photographs of a letter from the president of the Holland Red Cross, Prince Henry of the Netherlands, and certificate of presentation given to Mrs. Louise Carnegie. Mrs. Carnegie was given this letter of introduction to two individuals who were traveling to Lenox, Massachusetts to present her with the insignia and letter of appointment of the Dutch Red Cross decoration. A photograph of the reverse side of a silver gilt casket for a burgess ticket from Dumfries, Scotland, admitting Andrew Carnegie as burgess and freeman of the "Royal Burgh of Dumfries" in recognition of his being a "self made man," the "magnificence of his gifts," his "diffusion of light and knowledge amongst the people of Scotland and America" and "his many handsome and public libraries erected at his cost." The burgess ticket also goes on to thank him for a gift of a public library for Dumfries, Scotland and Maxwelltown, Scotland. The casket has ornamental engravings, decorations and the name Louise W. Carnegie engraved over a likeness of her, that is within a circle in the middle of the container. The likeness of Louise Carnegie has a reclining figure on each side of her. The top of the container has a silver statute of the back view of Saint Michael slaying a dragon. The right side of the container has a scene of a river and buildings engraved in it.
