A letter from Andrew Carnegie to William Nimick Frew, President of the Board of Trustees, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, in reference to a letter from Mr. Frew dated December 13, 1906, states that he would like to ""take care of everything but the Library proper"". Mr. Carnegie wants to have his ""fund"" used ""to pay for the ""portion of the Building the Carnegie Institute occupies"". Mr. Carnegie goes on to give his opinion that the City of Pittsburghs annual payment of $200,000 for its ""Libraries"" for the current population is ""doing very well indeed, judging by what I see other cities do"". Carnegie then states that the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is near the front of public library facilities and that ""she gets the full worth of her money and even more"".

A typescript letter from William Nimick Frew to Andrew Carnegie regarding the addition to the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Main Library building. Mr. Frew first expresses his disappointment in not being able to attend the annual meeting of the Washington Board. He then goes on to explain that bids were opened and contracts awarded for the interior wall decoration of the Library extension. He expects the ""big building"" to be closed in by Christmas and that much of the interior is completed, except for the decoration and furnishing. He hopes to have it ready for occupancy by November 1, 1906. On W. N. Frew, Attorney at Law stationary.

A copy of a typescript letter from William Nimick Frew to George W. Guthrie, Mayor of Pittsburgh, written on behalf of the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, concerning the city's costs for maintaining the main library building, as well as six branch buildings, for the fiscal year beginning February 1, 1907. Frew states that Andrew Carnegie desires to maintain those portions of the main library building occupied by Carnegie Institute's Department of Fine Arts and Departments of the Museum.

Typescript letter from William Nimick Frew to James Bertram concerning a letter and newspaper clipping forwarded by the latter to Samuel Harden Church, describing a contract between the trustees of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and Grand Army Post of the Republic, Thomas Espey Post no. 153, for a military museum. Frew states that no contract was executed or even suggested, as the trustees have no right to enter into such a contract. Furthermore, Frew asks Bertram to note that the Board of Trustees, of which Church is an officer, has nothing to do with apportioning of space in the library.
