A typescript letter from Samuel H. Church to Andrew Carnegie about the site for the ""new university"", presumably for the new location of the Western University of Pennsylvania. It will eventually be located in Oakland a neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pa. and will be renamed to the University of Pittsburgh once it is built in 1908. Church states he had a long talk with Chancellor Samuel Black McCormick of the Western University of Pennsylvania about the new university. He states that there is not enough room for the new university to be built on the ""Technical Schools"" site as Mr. Hamerschlag needs room for growth for the Carnegie Institute, Technical Schools. Typed ""Union Station, Pittsburgh, Pa."" at head of letter.
