Beatty accepts the replica of the bust of John Paul Jones offered by Millet, states that activities surrounding the annual exhibition have delayed his response in responding to a recent letter concerning the matter, and reminds Millet that he had already accepted the gift of the bust two years prior when the two had met in New York.

In a postscript, Beatty states that the bust of John Paul Jones ""came on Saturday from Mr. Millet."" On letterhead of the Carnegie Institute.
