Captain Philip Benner Wilson, John Blair Linn's brother-in-law, at the age of approximately 39 years; born in Chillisquaque Mills, Northumberland County, PA in 1822; son of Samuel Hunter Wilson (1793 – 1841) and Mary H. Roberts Benner Wilson (1795 – 1850); mustered in Aug. 18, 1861 at Harrisburg, PA as Captain of Company F, 59th Regiment, 2nd Pennsylvania Cavalry for a 3-year term of service (Company F was recruited in Centre County, PA); promoted to Major of the regiment on Oct. 28, 1862; transferred to the 1st Provisional Cavalry (combination of the 2nd PA Cavalry and the 20th PA Cavalry) on June 17, 1865 with duty at Cloud’s Mills, VA; mustered out July 13, 1865; after war involved first with John Irwin, Jr. in the hardware business and then with Thomas Hicks (Wilson & Hicks), both businesses in Bellefonte, PA; Colonel of the 5th Regiment National Guard of Pennsylvania; died in Bellefonte, Centre County, PA in 1878; unmarried; buried in Union Cemetery (Bellefonte, PA)
