Twenty men from Major Wilson's old Company F, 2nd PA Cavalry are going on furlough. The doctor has requested that Major Wilson be sent to the General Hospital. Major Wilson is currently staying in a log shanty but the trouble is 'while one part of you is burning the other is freezing.' They had about 4 inches of snow.

Jan. 10, 1864 was a Sunday. Letter was in envelope addressed to Frank S. Wilson. Company F, 2nd PA Cavalry was under Major Wilson’s command when he was a Captain. Mary is P. Benner Wilson’s sister. At this time the 2nd PA Cavalry was attached to the 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, Cavalry Corps, Army of the Potomac.
