The Philadelphia Home for Incurables was organized and incorporated in 1877, and provided care for those who at the time had what were considerable "incurable" diseases and disabilities, including but not limited to cancer, congenital deformities of knees or legs, curvature of the spine, epilepsy, heart diseases, paraplegia, rheumatoid arthritis, and spinal meningitis.
